Leather and Suede Shoe Care Guide

1. General Shoe Care

Clean your shoes after each use to remove dust and dirt. Use specific tools and products for each type of material:

  • For smooth leather: Use a soft cloth or natural bristle brush.
  • For suede: a special suede brush to remove impurities without damaging the surface.

Avoid Prolonged Exposure:

Protect your shoes from moisture, rain and direct sunlight to avoid changes in color and material.

Quality Shoes:

Use cedar wood shoe inserts to maintain the original shape of the shoes and absorb residual moisture.

2. Leather Shoe Care

Deep Cleaning:

Remove dirt with a slightly damp cloth.

Apply a nourishing cream specifically for the skin in a circular motion, using a soft cloth or sponge. This keeps the skin hydrated and preserves its softness.

Buff with a bristle brush or cloth to achieve a shiny finish.

Waterproofing:

Treat your shoes with a quality waterproofing product to protect them from rain and moisture.

Maintenance of Leather Soles:

Leather soles require more attention:

Avoid walking on wet surfaces.

Take your shoes to a shoemaker for a periodic check-up and, if necessary, add a thin layer of rubber to preserve the leather.

3. Care of Suede Shoes

Periodic Cleaning:

  • Use a rubber brush or a suede brush to remove dirt and dust.
  • In case of stains, use a suede eraser or a specific detergent, following the product instructions.

Waterproofing:

Apply a suede waterproofing spray to protect from moisture and prevent stains. Repeat the treatment regularly.

Refresh the Color:

If the suede appears dull, use a specific colouring spray to revive the original shade.

4. Care of the Soles

Leather Soles:

  • Limit use in rainy weather.
  • Apply a leather protector and resole when necessary.

Rubber Soles:

Clean them with a damp cloth and check them periodically for wear to assess the need for replacement.

5. Conservation

Store Your Shoes Correctly:

  • Use breathable fabric dust bags.
  • Avoid overlapping shoes to avoid deformations.

Avoid Humidity:

Store your shoes in a dry, well-ventilated place to prevent mold from forming.
